About The Author Michelle Sanborn

I’m Michelle. I was born on December 6, 1972, into a Jewish family in California. When I was thirteen, my parents divorced, and only six months later, my mom passed away. That loss shaped so much of who I am.

Following her wishes, my sister and I moved to Anaheim so I could attend Loara High School. Those teenage years were anything but easy. I wrestled with alcohol, pain, and confusion, and by my senior year, I ended up in a psychiatric hospital. But here’s the
part that makes me want to shout, “Thank You, Lord!” On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1993, I met Jesus. I accepted Him as my Savior, and everything changed.

I married young, at twenty-one. That marriage was hard and marked by domestic violence, but God made a way of escape. I found safety in a shelter and the courage to begin again. If you’ve ever been through something like that, hear me on this:
You’re not a victim, you’re a survivor.

Starting over in Riverside, I rebuilt my life step by step. And then—praise God—it was at Harvest Christian Fellowship that I met Jason, the love of my life and God’s sweetest blessing to me.

The years that followed weren’t without battles. For more than twenty-two years, I’ve lived with serious medical challenges. Still, I choose joy, I treasure the people God has placed in my life, and I lean on His strength every single day. When my dad passed
in 2013, it was another deep loss, but I thank God for the time we had and for His faithfulness in carrying me through.

Looking back, I see how every joy, every heartbreak, every challenge has been woven into God’s plan. None of it has been wasted. Each piece has shaped me into the woman He always meant me to be. And if He can do that in my life, I promise you—He can do it in
yours too.
